Deliverance from Fear

Fear is the root of every kind of bondage. It is "perverted" faith. It is that spirit that provides "faith" (trust) that something is going to hurt us. The bible has given one sure way to deal with fear, GET RID OF IT. We should not attempt to manage fear, to control fear or to deal with fear.

One of the most frequent commands in the bible is "fear not". The bible records at least 60 times where God has instructed his people to fear not. There are another 25 or so instructions to "be not afraid". We are even told in 2 Tim. 1:7:

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Fear is not from God. If it is not from God, then it is from Satan.

We know that faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17). Fear also comes by hearing, but it is hearing the lies of Satan.

Fear has an active partner, worry. When fear grabs us, worry sets in. Just as fear is perverted faith, worry is perverted meditation. It is meditation on the lies of the devil. However, we are told:

Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything; tell God your needs, and don't forget to thank him for his answers.

Philip. 4:6

God’s Answer to Fear

God has provided a way for us to get rid of fear. That way is love, love for God and love for others.

Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit. And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. We love him, because he first loved us. If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

1 John 4:7-21

But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.

1 John 2:5

The evidence of our love is in the obeying of God’s Word. We must decide that we are going to keep God’s Word. The only way this can be accomplished is that we study God’s Word. We cannot keep what we don’t know.

The next time Satan tries to hinder you through fear, apply the Word of God. What does God’s Word say about the situation? What does God’s Word say that you are? You are more that a conqueror through God that loves you. You don’t need to fear or worry. Just keep God’s Word:

FEAR NOT.
